Happily Ever After
I happened to be listening to the Disney Princess song: If you can dream, and I began to think. You know how the Disney princess movies end with a happily ever after? Well, what is a happily ever after for them? I mean, think about it. The movies, for the most part, end with the main character falling in love with a man and they go on with their lives. But is that it?
Snow White cleans and cooks for the dwarves until she awakens from her coma and rides off into the sunset with her prince. Is that it? Is she just content to sit around the castle and make googly eyes at her man? Does she clean the castle and sing all the time?
Sleeping Beauty: Once again, rides off into the sunset with her prince and takes her rightful place as Princess. What does she do after that? I guess she sits around and lets everyone do things for her, like the fairies were doing before.
Little Mermaid: My FAVORITE Disney movie, but at the same time, Ariel is 16. She wants to find a man, and gives up a part of herself to pursue a man that she saw once. In the end she gets her man, but at what cost? She lost her family and friends (who are sitll in the ocean) and lives with her man, "happily ever after".
My point is, is that all they were destined to become? Content that they had found their one "true love"? That's what they dreamed about, being happy. And the only way to achieve that happiness was not through books, traveling, or anything else. It was through finding a man and that would solve all their problems.
I was just wondering, if that's all they had to look forward to, then they must've lead very boring lives after acheiving their goal.
Okay, I'm sleep deprived and I've listened to the song about twenty times. LoL...Sorry.

Midtwenties Crisis
